Dentistry

Oral health plays a vital role in your pet’s overall well-being. Dental disease is one of the most common health issues in dogs and cats—and often one of the most overlooked. Bad breath, gum inflammation, and difficulty eating can all be signs of dental problems that, if left untreated, can lead to pain, infection, and even issues affecting the heart, liver, or kidneys.

Professional dental cleanings are essential for maintaining a healthy mouth and preventing serious dental disease. These cleanings are performed under general anesthesia to allow for a thorough and stress-free evaluation, cleaning, and treatment of all teeth and gum surfaces.

Prior to the procedure, we perform pre-anesthetic bloodwork to ensure your pet is healthy and able to undergo anesthesia safely. During the cleaning, your pet is closely monitored by a trained veterinary technician, with continuous tracking of heart rate, oxygen levels, and blood pressure to ensure their safety and comfort every step of the way.

We also take full-mouth dental x-rays as part of every cleaning. These allow us to assess the health of the teeth below the gumline—where many issues can go unnoticed without imaging.

In some cases, dental disease may cause irreparable damage to a tooth, making extraction the most compassionate and effective option. If extractions are needed, they are performed carefully under anesthesia, using pain control protocols to keep your pet comfortable during and after the procedure. We’ll explain everything in detail and provide you with clear aftercare instructions to support a smooth recovery at home.
