Giving Back to the Community

At Sheridan Veterinary Services, we believe veterinary care goes beyond the walls of our clinic—it’s about supporting the health and well-being of every pet and pet owner in our community. We are proud to partner with local rescue organizations, volunteer our time and expertise at community events like Petapolooza, and support vulnerable populations through initiatives such as Pet Wellness Day. Giving back is at the heart of who we are, and we are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them.

We’re proud to partner and work closely with various local rescue organizations to help animals in need receive the medical care that they require before finding their forever homes. Through these partnerships, we offer our veterinary services to support the vital work rescues do every day.Our goal is to help give these animals a second chance at a happy life and ensure that they are healthy, comfortable, and adoption-ready. By supporting rescue efforts in this way, we help reduce the strain on shelters and give more pets the chance at a happy, healthy future.

Rescue Work

For the past 2 years, we have been thrilled to be part of Petapolooza, a lively community pet fair in Pickering that celebrates our furry companions and the people who care for them. At this fun and educational event, our team hosts an interactive booth where we provide advice and resources to pet parents, as well as some treats and fun activities for the pets themselves. It’s one of our favorite ways to meet fellow animal lovers and contribute to a more informed and compassionate pet community.

Supporting the Next Generation of Veterinary Professionals

We are proud to offer hands-on learning experiences for students and volunteers looking to pursue careers in veterinary medicine. Through structured placements, we provide valuable opportunities for future professionals to gain practical skills, observe patient care, and interact with our dedicated team. We are committed to fostering the next generation of compassionate, skilled veterinarians and support staff who will continue to make a difference in animal care.

This past December, in partnership with the City’s Community Safety and Well-Being Committee, Pickering Animal Services hosted its first ever Pet Wellness Day, an initiative designed to support members of the community who may be experiencing homelessness and their pets. We were very proud and honoured to have been able to donate our time and veterinary services, in order to help out at this event. Essential care was provided to more than 20 animals, including wellness check-ups and vital vaccinations such as FVRCP, DHPP, and rabies. In addition, we offered education on pet health in order to empower pet owners with the knowledge to maintain their animals’ well-being. We believe that no one should have to choose between their own welfare and their pet’s health. By participating in Pet Wellness Day, we help ensure that all pets—regardless of their owner's circumstances—receive the compassionate care they deserve.
